Your account and walks
If you create an account, we store your name, email address, password hash, account settings, saved routes, and walk progress. Session identifiers and connection details help us keep your account working and secure. We process this information to provide the account and walking features you request under our service agreement.
Camera and exercise data
Camera frames and face data used to look around stay on your device. Walkmap does not receive them. Experimental FTMS readings also stay on your device.
Service use and security
We record visits, route previews, playback errors, and an approximate country based on your connection to understand use and improve reliability. We use IP-based limits and security logs to prevent automated registrations and email abuse. These activities serve our legitimate interests in operating and protecting the service.
Cloudflare Turnstile
Account creation, password reset requests, and confirmation email resends use Cloudflare Turnstile. Cloudflare processes technical signals such as your IP address, browser information, TLS fingerprint, and the site you visit to distinguish people from bots. Walkmap checks the resulting token on the server. Read Cloudflare's Turnstile Privacy Addendum for details.
External places and media
When you open an external video, panorama, or map, your browser connects directly to its provider, such as YouTube, Panoramax, Mapillary, or OpenStreetMap. The provider receives the technical data needed for that connection and handles it under its own privacy terms.
How long data is kept
Unconfirmed accounts are normally removed after seven days. Account and walk data remain until you delete the account. Detailed preview and error records are removed after 90 days; analytics session records after 400 days. Local database backups follow a separate short retention schedule and may contain older data until they expire.
Your choices and rights
You can export your data or delete your account in Account settings. Write to support@walkmap.net for access, correction, deletion, objection, or other privacy questions. You may also complain to the Lithuanian State Data Protection Inspectorate.
