Help — questions and answers
Discover interesting places as you exercise on an elliptical trainer or walking pad. Choose the kind of virtual walk that suits you.
What types of virtual walks are available?
Walkmap offers three types: Panoramas, Mapped video, and Scenic walk. All three combine indoor walking with discovering real places.
What is a panorama walk (Panoramas)?
You move along a route through a sequence of 360° photographs. You can look around by turning your head with the camera enabled, or by using the buttons.
This is a good choice for calmly exploring streets, architecture, and nature. The image changes in separate transitions from one panorama to the next.
What is a video walk with a map (Mapped video)?
You watch a continuous video along a prepared route. It has a map, a start and finish, places linked to video timestamps, and a calculated distance.
Choose this when you want to follow a particular route, see where you are, and know how much is left. The view is mainly forward; there is no free 360° view.
What is a scenic video walk (Scenic walk)?
You walk along with a continuous video of a beautiful place. A detailed route map has not yet been prepared. Distance is estimated from your chosen virtual pace and the time spent moving.
Choose this when the atmosphere of a place and an enjoyable walk matter more than your exact position on a map.
Does the distance measure movement on my exercise equipment?
No. In all three types, distance refers to your virtual walk. It does not measure the movement of your elliptical trainer or walking pad.
Do I need a camera to look around in panoramas?
The camera is optional. Enable it to look around naturally by turning your head, or use the buttons. Camera frames and face data stay on your device.
